WSO held its first dinner fundraiser at Robata Jones in Artarmon on Monday, 19 February. Despite the thunderstorm, disrupted train services and the impossible traffic jam, all of our 27 guests joined us safely. They listened to a slide presentation by Masato, the founder of WSO, with keen interest and enjoyed a scrumptious 12-course dinner, fabulous entertainment by “Noriko & Charity boys”, silent auctions (which were not quite silent) and Origami raffles. There was so much energetic, happy vibration throughout the dinner, and everyone had so much fun. We were thrilled to raise $3,540 in net profits, exceeding our target by far!
Our heartfelt appreciation goes to all the fantastic guests. Thanks to their generosity, we can support 2.5 students for one year. In return, they will help hundreds and hundreds of needy people as a dentist, a nurse and a physiotherapist in the future. We are also very grateful to Mr Nagashima and her lovely daughter, Mai, the owners of Robata Jones, who sacrificed their profits to provide us with an amazing banquet and delicious wine. Without their contributions, this dinner would not have happened. Last but not least, we want to thank our hardworking volunteers, who entertained the guests, waited on the table and ensured that everybody had a great time. A big Arigato to everybody!
